OpenAI released a standalone ChatGPT app for iOS in May and promised to bring it to Android soon. Well, two months later, OpenAI announced that it would be releasing the ChatGPT app for Android next week.
If you want to try the ChatGPT app for Android, you can pre-register on the Google Play Store. The app is free to use and syncs user history across devices. However, it's unclear which markets it will be available in first.
OpenAI says the standalone ChatGPT app will provide users with instant answers, personalized guidance, creative inspiration, professional input, and learning opportunities. The Android app may not be the same as the iOS app as they are two different operating systems. So don't expect the Siri and Shortcuts integration that comes with the iOS app.
