Volkswagen has started taking pre-orders for its new ID.7 electric sedan in Europe after production started at its Emden plant in Germany earlier this week.
The price of a new electric car starts at around $62,000 with a range of up to 621 kilometers, which is significantly more expensive than the Tesla Model 3, which starts at $46,500. The
ID.7 is the sixth and largest member of the Volkswagen ID family, which also includes the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5 and ID.6 as well as the electric van ID.Buzz.
The electric mid-size sedan includes two versions: the ID.7 Pro and the ID.7 Pro S, as well as the sporty ID.7 GTX version with twin-engine all-wheel drive and improved performance.
According to Volkswagen, buyers can already pre-order the ID.7 Pro is available for around $61,600 as the company equipped the car with a 77 kWh battery for a range of up to 621 kilometers.
The rear-mounted electric motor produces 281 hp and 545 lb-ft of torque, and the cabin offers plenty of passenger space and a total trunk volume of 532 liters.
Volkswagen has equipped the car with numerous convenience and technology features, including an augmented reality head-up display, Discover Pro Max navigation system, standard 19-inch Hudson-style wheels, and keyless entry and start. The
ID.7 also comes standard with numerous safety features, including driver assistance, lane departure warning, emergency assist, rear cross-traffic alert and lane departure warning. Also ID card.The 7 Pro features the Area View camera system for a 360-degree view.
Volkswagen regards its sedan as an efficiency champion thanks to the optimized aerodynamic design of the entire vehicle, which enables low average consumption of 16.3 to 14.1 kWh per 100 km and a range of more than 460 km.
The car is about five meters long but maneuverable and has a turning radius of 10.8 meters. The
ID.7 is the first electric sedan with intelligent electronic air vents that efficiently circulate the air in the interior for heating or cooling. The optional panoramic sunroof with smart glass technology alternates between opaque and transparent states.
Customers who want to personalize their vehicle even more can choose from optional equipment packages, which include the interior package, the interior package extra, the exterior package and the exterior package extra.
The optional interior package includes ergoActive comfort seats with memory and massage functions, comfort access function and lighting in 30 different colors.
The upgrade to the additional interior package includes additional airbags and a Harman Kardon audio system with twelve speakers and a 700-watt center amplifier, a 16-channel digital amplifier and a subwoofer.
An optional exterior package is available that includes Matrix LED headlights, tinted rear windows and an easy-to-open and close sensor trunk. The additional body package includes progressive steering and adaptive chassis control (DCC).
ID.The 7 Pro S is due to arrive in Europe later this year, with an 86kWh battery and a range of up to 700km.
